Erosion Control & Vegetation Solution for Landslide Repair - Problem: The Teton Pass Landslide knocked out a section of highway that connects Jackson, WY with Victor, ID. This is a critical section of highway as many people commute daily from Idaho to Jackson for work. With the detour, drivers were forced to add 2+ hours one-way to their drive so immediate action by transportation officials was needed to reopen the road as quickly as possible. Solution: Tony Kent with our Cascade Salt Lake City office worked with the teams involved on this project to supply the erosion control products and soil amendments needed on this site to quickly establish vegetation and protect the freshly graded slope from eroding. Biosol Forte 7-2-1, a nature-based organic fertilizer, was selected as the soil amendment for the site. Biosol is ideal for restoring nutrients to disturbed soils as its quality organic composition of beneficial bacterial and fungal biomass enhances soil health and stimulates microbial life, which is proven to have a positive effect on plant health and establishment. Profile’s ProMatrix™ Engineered Fiber Matrix was selected as the erosion control solution to lock the soil, seed, and fertilizer in place until vegetation establishment. ProMatrix promotes...Keep Reading
Soil Cell Systems for Urban Tree Development Webinar - September 4th at 10:30am - Register Here - Bill Murphy, P.E. will be joined by Joe Kelly to cover Citygreen’s Stratavault™ soil cell system and the many benefits it provides. Enhancing community spaces with trees helps mitigate urban heat islands, achieve cities’ urban canopy targets and improve water quality. Trees in urban areas struggle due to a lack of soil volume for their tree roots and have an average life expectancy of 3-5 years. With Stratavault, urban trees can now live 50+ years. Soil cells provide structural support to surrounding sidewalks and roads while also creating a void space underneath for soil for the tree’s roots to grow. This webinar will cover product details and benefits, installation guidelines and case studies from some of our local ASP, Bowman, Quick Supply & Cascade projects.
