The polymeric dimpled core of American Wick Drain sheet drains fuctions as a pipe and creates a flow channel for water. This construction also contributes to the sheet drain's capabilty to withstand loads from soil or other surface pressure. Compressive strengths range from 5,200 lbs/sq ft to 45,000 lbs/sq ft.
The core height of AWD sheet drains ranges from 1/4 inch to almost 1/2 inch. This determines the amount of water that can be collected and ranges from 9-22 gallons per minute for every foot of product width. The dimpled core of the sheet drain is impervious, and can be used in place of a protection board for waterproofing membranes.
To suit varying project needs, AWD offers both single-sided and double-sided sheet drains. Single-sided sheet drains consist of a solid, formed three dimensional core covered with a geotextile filter fabric bonded to the dimple side of the core. These sheet drains allow water entry from only one direction.
Double-sided sheet drains are composed of the same three-dimensional core with geotextile filter fabrics bonded to both sides and allow water entry from both directions. Both single and double-sided sheet drains are typically used to collect and re-direct water from a structure.
